Pełnia

Sleep well, stranger.

Here’s Pełnia (the full moon in Polish), a hypnotic textural music experiment in three movements, with a companion compute shader visualization inspired by vector displays — where a beam of light traces the movement of speaker membranes. The video is controlled by the music, with additional modulation and movement guided by hand(written code).

This piece started as an exploration of the recently updated Auto Filter device in Ableton Live and, well, took on a life of its own. If you look at the project file (and disregard the vinyl clicks that appear in the middle section), you can see that the whole thing is just a single continuous synth track with two synths in parallel playing very few notes. Instead, the movement of the sound is achieved via modulation of various parameters of instruments and effects — 45 automation lanes to be exact.

Thank you for listening.
